Outdoor Quest (OQ) is the world?s richest adventure race featuring seven sports over five-stages traversing approximately 300 kilometres. OQ is not an extreme race -- the fastest teams will complete each stage in less than 10 hours and all teams are fed and housed in a luxury hotel. The race course will be marked, but will also include orienteering elements. Each stage normally includes at least one ?surprise? Adventure Skill test.
OQ requires fitness but, for the most part, does not require highly technical adventure or wilderness skills. Similar to the last two years, a total winning time of 25-30 hours is expected. Teams should expect stages to include a climb up 4,101 meter Mt. Kinabalu, sea kayaking and swift water boat/raft segments. The use of traditional local craft is an OQ hallmark.
The race course is designed to create the fairest, most competitive and safest event possible. OQ is widely regarded as the most professional, enjoyable, exciting and safest multi-sport race in the world. Race rules are finisher friendly and are written and interpreted to allow teams to finish the race in an official or unofficial capacity.
The Outdoor Quest is truly unique. It is part all-inclusive vacation, part unbelievable cultural experience, part journey of self-discovery and part world-class multi-sport competition.
